Step One

Visit the Legislation & Votes page at the Office of the Clerk's site. To the right side of the page is a section called "Roll Call Votes." Click on the link of the current session of Congress – that's the 111th for 2009 through 2011 – to view roll call votes for that session. You may also view roll call votes from past sessions of Congress.

Step Two
The far left column labeled "Roll" will give you the number assigned to the vote. Moving over a column, you'll see the date the vote was cast. The "Question" column lists whether the vote was on final passage of a bill, on an amendment, or as otherwise noted. The "Result" column notes the outcome: P is for passed, F for failed, and A for an amendment that was agreed to. The next column contains the title and descritpion of the measure. All votes are posted in reverse chronological order – meaning you will find the most recent at the top and will have to plow deeper for older votes.

Step Three

Click on the appropriate "Roll" number to get more information about the particular vote. An older vote requires that you pore through lower roll call numbers, with links to those numbers listed at the bottom.

Step Four
After clicking on the appropriate roll, you will be taken to this page. Scoll down to see how Congressman Rangel – or any of our nation's representatives – voted on the measure.
